Posted by | Marketing, SEO | View Comments »

Ah, the mysterious world of Google AdWords.

Frightening first initial thoughts of setting up and managing a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign aside, there are a number of incredible benefits to using a Search Engine Marketing (SEM) platform, which include driving traffic to your website, growing your email list, and more importantly, increasing sales. That being said, there are a few best practices when it comes to writing your AdWords copy that gives you the best possible chance of PPC success.

The Basics

If you’re new to AdWords, understanding what your ad will consist of is the first step in conquering the SEM platform. Your ad will look a little something like this:

  • Headline 1: 30 characters
  • Headline 2: 30 characters
  • Display URL/Path: 30 characters
  • Description: 80 characters
  • Final URL

Say ‘Bai’ to Build-Your-Own-Websites

Posted by | Website | View Comments »

By now you’ve probably seen or heard mention of the crowd-favorite Super Bowl commercial for Bai, read your social media feeds’ opinions of the political car ads, or even had enough of the various cell phone companies attempting to top each others’ ads as if it’s enough to make you want to switch providers. If the ending of Super Bowl LI wasn’t crazy enough, at least Lady Gaga’s half time show made up for the lack of funny commercials this year. Surprisingly, there seemed to be a rise of advertising for build-your-own website platforms.

From Squarespace and Wix to the online giant, GoDaddy, the tools that claim to help build your online presence seem to be increasingly popular on Super Bowl Sunday.…

5 Characteristics of a Successful Logo Design

Posted by | Branding, Design | View Comments »

Designing a successful logo is a task many people value the importance of but usually take for granted due to its complexity. Building a respectable, memorable, and properly functioning logo is like linking train cars within a locomotive to get to the end destination. If one car link is broken, the remaining cars behind will get left in the dust. The cars ahead will race off into the distance without the goods from the latter. Each part of a train needs to be connected to ensure the overall success of getting to the end destination. Similarly, if one part of the logo disconnects, it will fail in its end goal to appropriately convey a brand as a whole.

We’ve put together 5 characteristics that will ensure the end destination of a logo is successful:

2016: A Year in Review

Posted by | News | View Comments »

As we begin to watch our “Year in Review” videos on Facebook, reveal our “2016 Best Nine” on Instagram, and listen to our “Top 100 Songs” on Spotify, it must also be time to post our Year in Review company infographic. Although media outlets can market 2016 as less than perfect, 2016 was a milestone year for Satellite Six. We celebrated our “6th” year in business, and as a company who loves to play off the space theme and the number six, this was a perfect opportunity to utilize our talents and celebrate. (Because who doesn’t love a good party?)

Surprisingly enough, 2016 was not all fun and games, as we did work exceptionally hard to accomplish many notable things: We added three new team members to our Web Development, Web & Graphic Design, and Sales & Marketing Departments; created a partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to add a new Career Ready Internship program for Digital Marketing; won 8 GDUSA awards for Website Design, Graphic Design, and In-House Design; Sponsored the Eau Claire Express Father’s Day Game (Ben got to throw out the first pitch!); and partnered with a ship-ton of new clients who we’re honored to work with.…

Internships are a supplementary experience throughout college. They provide real-world experience and help you find your individual niche to pursue. As a soon-to-be-graduate this December, I am ecstatic to have found the industry in which I hope to pursue upon graduation.

Not only is it important to obtain internships before graduation, but it is just as essential to intern with a company that matches your ambitions and provides skills to succeed beyond the classroom. If you believe in exploring the creative space with a great group of individuals, Satellite Six is a great place to start your career.

This Fall, I have had the opportunity to intern for Satellite Six as a Keyword Research Assistant. Upon hiring and throughout my experience, I was trained and guided by the experts themselves.…

The Power of Frameworks

Posted by | Web Development | View Comments »

Imagine this: You are fishing for your first time. You have a hook, a worm, and not much else planned out. It’s just going to be you, the line, and the shore. After a couple times of doing this, you might start bringing extra tools along, such as a net, extra bait, and maybe even a chair. Before you know it, you are almost bringing your entire house with you.

Frameworks are similar in the sense that you don’t need to bring the entire house with you. You do, however, want the extra benefit of a net and a chair.

Frameworks can be defined as a collection of standardized rules, functions, and concepts that can be reused. These are great, as they provide a streamlined way of providing tools, along with making the process of building a functional website quicker.…
